W3 PAVILION

KURTZENTWURF | academical project_TUBerlin 2009
Professors | Christine Nickl-Weller_Benjamin Rämmler
Location | Tiergarten_Berlin
Worked with | Daniel Fernández

The project consists of three wooden platforms that pass through the park’s different environments (meadows, forests and water).
These platforms fold and are adapted to the environment creating a new topography. This new topography can be used in many different ways:
to lie or sit for a while, as a meeting place, for dance, walk, have a picnic, etc … In each of these platforms we find a pavilion (a cafe, an exhibition hall and a bistro).
These pavilions are U-glass boxes that contain inside a smaller and opaque white box. This translucent skin allows the atmosphere that surrounds it,
to penetrate inside the pavilion as changing shadows and lights. The effect at night will be the opposite;
the lighting inside each pavilion will
make them look like lamps, disposed on the park.
